ONE VISUALIZATION OF THE DREAM
View from the far end...the building in the front is the
administrative wing (on the left) and the elementary through
high school on the right...that building has two floors. No
elevator...circular ramp instead. Official size soccer playing
field behind the educational wing.
|
Jessica and Alicia with the model. The green roofed building is
a covered sports court that doubles as a large auditorium and
meeting place. Jessica is sitting right where our church
property is located. This particular building could very possibly
double for church and school use. One of the two entrances to
the property (which will be surrounded by wall) is right in front
of Jessica. The other is on the opposite side. The six-sided
"thing" opposite her is a hexagonal drive placed between the
educational buildings.
|
A complete view. The square "building" with the court in the
middle (on the lower right) is the pre-school. Nursery,
Pre-school and kindergarten are housed in this area. Next to it
on the left is a light blue rectangle which is a sports court. The
oval behind that is a kids' pool to be used by this wing and
behind that is a semi-olympic swimming pool with covered
bleachers for the elementary and highschool. The two light
green rectangular areas are soccer courts (hard floor). The
long buildings on the two sides are shower rooms for the entire
sports area.

View of entire layout. The plan that was drawn up has a
capacity for 1200 students. Only God knows if we will
become quite that large. I for one, don't think we will be ready
for quite that big of a school for a long time. :-)
|
Personal note: The architecteral student who used ALFA as his final project received a perfect grade. Even so, we may only
use some of his ideas in our final layout. As you can see, sports takes quite the priority in this plan. Just as an example, there is
a 132 seat air-conditioned auditorium. With a building plan that has a 1200 student capacity, you couldn't even fit the faculty in
that size auditorium. Not to mention drama and music presentations. We are using the "arts" as one of our big calling cards...
Band and music are basically non-existent in schools here in Brazil; we especially want to have a solid music department, not
to mention the foreign language(English), computers, etc.
